Ubicación y terreno de la bodega.

Joven bodega propiedad de la familia Porcioles-Buixó, con viñedos de reciente plantación (1998) situados entre el río Sió y la sierra del Montsec. Costers del Sió elaboran vinos con variedades autóctonas con el fin de transmitir la tipicidad de la zona, aunque sin para ello renunciar a varietales foráneos. La bodega fundada en 2006, se haya dentro de una finca agrícola-ganadera que tiene una extensión de 700.-ha, de las cuales 71ha, están dedicadas al cultivo de la viña. El paraje donde se ubica la bodega es una finca natural de gran belleza que combina otros cultivos como el olivo y cereales, con su propia ganadería,ovina y vacuna, y con un coto de caza. La finca, propiedad de la familia Porcioles-Buixó, está situada en la comarca de la Noguera, en el municipio de Balaguer y pertenece a la D.O Costers del Segre. Este paraje fue en su día reserva de los Condes de Urgell (798-1413). Los viñedos se encuentran plantados en suelos muy heterogéneos, poco profundos y pobres en materia orgánica, con textura franco limosa, a una altitud de 310 metros y con clima mediterráneo de transición a continental. Se cultivan una amplia gama de variedades: Tempranillo, Garnacha tinta, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet sauvignon y Sauvignon blanc; también se experimenta con nuevas variedades y clones, que darán vida a los futuros vinos. La bodega está dotada con unas instalaciones de la más alta tecnología, que permite trabajar cada partida de uva, de manera individualizada, obteniendo así lo mejor de cada vino. Además disponen de una moderna Sala de Microvinificación donde se realizan ensayos de I+D, investigación y desarrollo.

El sueño hecho realidad.

Todo comienza con la ilusión de un hombre inquieto, Juan de Porcioles, quien siempre había soñado con vivir en el campo, cultivar la tierra y criar su propia ganadería… Fue así como en 1992, la familia Porcioles-Buixó adquiere la propiedad. Desde entonces, con esfuerzo y entusiasmo se trabaja en ella, dotándola de un carácter y singularidades propios. Hoy se la conoce como Finca de Flix. A la vez, Juan de Porcioles, gran apasionado del mundo del vino, iba desarrollando la idea de cultivar su propio viñedo con el fin de elaborar vinos con una marcada personalidad y de la más alta calidad.
Así, en 1998, con la ayuda de amigos y familia, realiza la plantación a mano, de la primera viña; "Vinya Vella", recuperándose a la vez, el cultivo de la vid en la zona. Todo un proyecto que hoy día, a través de su mujer e hijos se está haciendo realidad.

Bodega.

La bodega está dotada con unas instalaciones de la más alta tecnología, que permite trabajar cada partida de uva de manera individualizada, obteniendo así el mejor de cada vino. La sala de barricas fue construida bajo tierra para respetar su integración en el paisaje y aislarla mejor de las temperaturas de la zona. En ella reposan barricas de 300 litros, en su mayoría de roble francés, de diferentes tonelerías, orígenes y tostados. Esto nos permite poder elegir el perfil de crianza adecuado para cada tipo de vino.

Nuestros viñedos.

En nuestros viñedos a lo largo del año, se trabaja, se experimenta y se estudia el comportamiento de las vides para obtener la máxima calidad de sus uvas, como dice Juan Porcioles “un gran vino comienza por hacerse en la viña y debemos cuidarla como se merece”.En la finca se cultivan una amplia gama de variedades: Tempranillo, Garnacha tinta, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon y Viognier; también se experimenta con nuevas variedades y clones, que darán vida a los futuros vinos. Los viñedos se encuentran plantados en suelos muy hetereogéneos, poco profundos y pobres en materia orgánica, con textura franco limosa, a una altitud de 310 m y con clima mediterráneo de tendencia continental.
