La historia.
Situada a una altitud de 200-250 m. sobre el nivel del mar, en el macizo del Garraf, Finca Viladellops elabora vinos con un marcado carácter del terroir, con variedades autóctonas (xarel·lo, macabeo, cariñena y garnacha) y una muy corta producción. Finca Viladellops se encuentra junto al castillo de Olèrdola, en la zona vinícola del Penedès, a 45 km. de Barcelona. Los orígenes de Olèrdola se remontan a los íberos; y su importancia histórica y estratégica se ha perpetuado a lo largo del tiempo, siendo en la época medieval una ciudad fronteriza con el mundo musulmán. En la vertiente de la montaña que rodea la bodega, se pueden observar los bancales con olivos, almendros y viñedos, cultivos que han constituido desde tiempos inmemoriales la base agrícola de la propiedad.
La bodega.
Las primeras referencias escritas de elaboración de vinos para su comercialización en Finca Viladellops se remontan a finales del S. XIX, más concretamente al año 1877, y se perpetúan de manera ininterrumpida hasta 1980. La actividad se reinicia a partir de 1999, coincidiendo con la incorporación de la generación actual de la familia Desvalls con un nuevo proyecto de elaboración de vinos de calidad 100% mediterráneos. Vinos que buscan transmitir la tipicidad a partir de la apuesta por las variedades autóctonas de la zona como base de sus vinos: Garnacha para vinos tintos y Xarel·lo para blancos.

Centro de interpretación.
El centro muestra la trayectoria de la familia y la historia de Cataluña a partir de la documentación textual, gráfica y fotográfica del Archivo Desvalls. Un proyecto cultural pionero, colaborativo entre el sector público y privado, que pone en valor el patrimonio documental en su contexto territorial, en este caso la comarca del Alt Penedès. El fondo documental del Archivo de la Familia Desvalls abarca desde el año 981 hasta el 1983. Está formado por 4.529 pergaminos, 289 cajas de archivo con manuscritos y documentación en papel, 554 imágenes (172 placas de vidrio, 377 positivos b/n y 5 positivos color) y 203 planos y dibujos en tela, pergamino, papel y papel vegetal.
Marcelo Desvalls. La Finca Viladellops siempre ha sido un proyecto sentimental. Nací entre viñedos, y mi infancia ha estado vinculada a la tierra. Me gustaría y así espero, poder dejar un legado y traspasar el testigo a la siguiente generación. Desde los inicios he buscado con pasión respetar el paisaje, sostenibilidad y junto con todo mi equipo elaborar unos vinos de calidad que expresen la magia del Macizo del Garraf.
Ermita de Sant Joan.
Capilla de una nave rectangular restaurada en 1950 por la propiedad. De estilo románico data del S. XIII. En la fachada de poniente, puerta de punto redondo y ojo de buey abocinada. Tiene una campana de sillita. En la fachada hay añadida la sacristía, obra barroca. El ahora primitiva de altar, con agujeros para las reliquias, la han puesto fuera con un pie de piedra y celebran misa cuando no se cabe en el interior. En 1951, la campana fue bautizada con el nombre de Margarita por el abuelo de Marcelo Desvalls, actual propietario, en honor a su mujer.

Torre S.
XI -Bien de Interés Cultural-.
Edificio situado en el interior de la Finca Viladellops, declarado Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional. Está situada dentro del recinto de una gran masía, adosada a una pequeña construcción. La torre tiene planta circular y es construida con sillares irregulares dispuestos en hileras horizontales. El lugar se menciona por primera vez en el año 976, en una donación de tierras situadas dentro del término del Castillo de Olèrdola. La altura hasta el primer piso, desde el exterior, debía ser de unos 7 metros. El aparato constructivo es formado por piedras irregulares, en su interior se observa un «opus spicatum». El edificio adosado al oeste de la torre es considerado una cárcel o, por algunos, la capilla de Sant Joan vell. Hace 4,5 metros de largo y una altura de 180 cm.
El pueblo.
La creación del núcleo de Viladellops está fechada en el año 930 cuando el conde Sunyer I reconquistó el Castillo de Olèrdola y se concedieron franquicias para repoblar y crear nuevos asentamientos. De esta época data la torre medieval perfectamente conservada, que hacía las funciones de fortificación y de comunicación con el Castillo de Olèrdola. El patrón de Viladellops es Sant Joan, en honor a la Orden del Hospital de San Juan de Jerusalén, quienes construyeron la capilla de Viladellops en aquellas épocas. Actualmente el pueblo lo componen 18 masías (viviendas rurales típicas de la zona) que dan al pueblo el mismo ambiente que hace 100 años, ya que se han preservado completamente la arquitectura y el entorno.

Las viñas.
La propiedad de Finca Viladellops consta de 500 hectáreas, en medio del Macizo del Garraf, formadas por bosque mediterráneo, cereal y 60 hectáreas de viñedo inscritas en la DO Penedès. En la finca se puede observar un importante número de vestigios de la agricultura tradicional de la zona, como las barracas de piedra seca, con un total de 25 construcciones, márgenes de piedra y pozos de agua agujereados en la roca; cosas que demuestran la importante tradición agrícola de la finca desde tiempos inmemoriales. Finca Viladellops se encuentra situado en el Macizo del Garraf, macizo montañoso que se extiende hasta el mar mediterráneo. En la finca situada a 250 metros sobre el nivel del mar, de suelo muy pobres de textura arcillo-calcárea, con alto porcentaje de cal activa, encontramos gran cantidad de sedimentos y fósiles marinos, vestigio inequívoco de que en épocas anteriores había sido el fondo del mar.
- Clima: Debido a la proximidad del Mar Mediterráneo (10 km) durante los meses de agosto y septiembre se genera una humedad matinal que beneficia la viña mediante su rehidratación, alargando y consiguiendo la maduración polifenólica óptima. Esta rehidratación natural, requiere una viticultura muy ordenada y pulcra para evitar problemas de podredumbre.
- Ecología: Finca Viladellops ha conservado cuidadosamente durante años el paisaje, la arquitectura y su entorno. Siguiendo con la filosofía de la propiedad, toda la viña se ha inscrito en el Consell català de la Producció Agrària Ecològica (CCPAE), por lo que los vinos actuales tienen la certificación oficial de vinos ecológicos.
- Tipicidad: Siguiendo con la tradición y arraigo de la viña, el proyecto de Finca Viladellops se define como 100% Mediterráneo y autóctono, conservando y potenciando las variedades tradicionales de la zona: Xarel·lo para blancos y Garnatxa para negros.
