Español [ ES ]La extrema variación de condiciones de producción en el viñedo han guiado a Jean Michel Deiss a buscar cómo expresar en cada vino los 3 factores que hacen un vino completo: la variedad de uva, la añada y el terruño. Cuanto más grande el vino, más se enlazan las características de sabor con las propiedades que le ofrece el suelo, mientras que la tipicidad la ofrecen la variedad de uva y la vendimia.
El DOMAINE MARCEL DEISS se encuentra en Bergheim, un pequeño pueblo ubicado en el corazón de la vinicultura Alsacia, a 3 km de Ribeauvillé. Proveniente de una familia de viticultores que viven en Bergheim desde 1744, Marcel Deiss eligió la profesión de las armas a la edad de 18 años y dejó su tierra natal. Al regresar al país después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, redescubrió sus raíces y, con su hijo André, desarrolló su pequeña herencia de tierras, para convertirlo en un negocio dinámico del vino: DOMAINE MARCEL DEISS. Hoy administrado por Jean-Michel Deiss, con el apoyo de su hijo Mathieu, la finca cultiva 27 hectáreas de viñedos repartidos en 9 municipios y alrededor de 20 km de la Côte Viticole.
La variedad extrema de los sitios vitícolas de Domaine, que son unas 220 parcelas, ha llevado a la búsqueda de la afirmación del terruño para cada ubicación. Por lo tanto, el viñedo se gestiona utilizando las técnicas antiguas de la tradición vitivinícola alsaciana: Plantación, arado, pilling, compost, pastoreo, sin deshierbe ni fertilizantes químicos. Los vinos de terruño llevan naturalmente la marca de este requisito, el rastro obvio de esta vocación de decir un paisaje. Marcel Deiss es uno de los mejores productores de vino de Alsacia y una bodega que ha apostado por defender el carácter del terruño por encima del del varietal. Así, el nombre de riesling o gewürztraminer ha desaparecido de las etiquetas de sus mejores vinos y pasan a ser vinos en los que se combinan castas distintas. Marcel Deiss conoce bien sus tierras y practica una cultivo ecológico, con métodos biodinámicos pero sin necesidad de hacer publicidad de ello. Es un acérrimo defensor del cuidado de la uva en viña; sólo así se puede evitar tener que aplicar tratamientos y correcciones a posteriori. Situado en la población de Bergheim, esta bodega cultiva en sus 20 ha. de viñedo todas las variedades de uva alsacianas: riesling, gewürztraminer, sylvaner, pinot gris, pinot noir y pinot blanc, y muscat y elabora una amplísima gama de productos de calidades varias, desde vinos de village (genéricos) a première y grand crus.
