Alfredo Arribas inició su andadura en el mundo del vino en 2001, con el proyecto de Portal del Priorat, en la finca Clos del Portal. Es uno de los elaboradores más destacados de entre todos los que tratan de llevar al vino la esencia de las regiones del Montsant y del Priorat. Su curiosidad por descubrir el potencial de la vecina denominación de Montsant le animó a trabajar paralelamente estas dos zonas, elaborando dos series de producción limitada llamadas 'Trossos'. Los vinos de Alfredo son grandes vinos de guarda, de larga vida y con un enorme potencial, elaborados en grandes barricas a partir de uva de terruños,'trossos', muy seleccionados; vinos refinados a la vez que llenos de intensidad, bien estructurados y muy largos. A finales del año 2010, Alfredo abandonó la bodega Portal del Montsant para concentrarse en la elaboración de otra serie de vinos de producción limitada: Trossos, una colección procedente de viñas viejas mayoritariamente situadas al sur de la denominación Montsant.
