Español [ ES ]Desde hace casi dos siglos, la construcción de la Casa G.H. Mumm se realiza en torno a valores sólidos que todavía hoy definen su identidad. Es una de las más grandes y prestigiosas casas de Champagne del mundo. Pese a que su fundación oficial fue en 1827, los orígenes de la familia Mumm, saga alemana creadora de la maison, se remontan al siglo XII y en 1761 ésta ya poseía una vasta superficie de viñedos en el valle del Rin, donde elaboraba y comercializaba sus propios vinos. A principios del siglo XIX, atraídos por el potencial comercial de los fantásticos espumosos de la región francesa de la Champaña, los hermanos Gottlieb, Jacobus y Philipp Mumm decidieron abrir una sucursal de la empresa familiar en Reims. La más excelsa calidad fue la seña de identidad de la firma, desde sus comienzos, una máxima que, años más tarde, quedaría plasmada en el lema: Sólo lo mejor, acuñado por George, el hijo de uno de los fundadores que, en 1852, asumió la dirección de la compañía. Desde ese momento, pasaría a ser conocida mundialmente como G.H. Mumm. Bajo su dirección, la maison vio crecer y consolidarse su viñedo en propiedad, actualmente son 218 hectáreas, el 98% clasificado como Grands Crus, como uno de los mejores de la región; y sus selectos champanes se comercializaron en los cinco continentes. A principios del siglo XX, la firma contaba con una veintena de filiales ubicadas en países como Estados Unidos, Rusia, Canadá, Brasil y Perú. Entre las creaciones más destacadas de Georges Hermann Mumm figura el famoso Cordon Rouge, presentado en sociedad por primera vez en 1875, y que, hoy en día, sigue siendo el símbolo de la calidad y la sofisticación de G.H. Mumm. En 1904 fue nombrado proveedor oficial de champán de la casa real británica, un honor que conmemoró con una etiqueta especial en la que se autoproclamaba el “Champagne des Souverains”, el champán de los soberanos. En la actualidad, la compañía es propiedad del grupo Pernod Ricard. y sigue siendo sinónimo de la mayor exclusividad y elegancia. Explorando y recorriendo los confines del mundo, estos hombres dejaron como legado un auténtico gusto por lo excepcional que, a lo largo de las décadas, se ha alimentado de audacia y de orgullo. En la actualidad, aún persiguen esta búsqueda de la excelencia iniciada por sus antecesores.
