Edetària es el proyecto personal de Joan Àngel Lliberia, hijo de agricultor y nieto de enólogo, ingeniero agrónomo de formación y un verdadero apasionado de su tierra y de la viña, cuyo esfuerzo y buen trabajo le ha merecido un lugar entre los vinos de autor de referencia de la Terra Alta, una denominación con una larguísima tradición vitivinícola y una experiencia elaboradora más que consolidada, que hoy intenta seguir los pasos de la vecina Priorat. Edetària quiere ser un proyecto de referencia en la DO Terra Alta y en Cataluña, posicionándose entre los vinos de mayor prestigio como vino de terroir y de autor. Trabajo riguroso con algo de improvisación y creatividad, experiencia e intuición, respeto por la naturaleza y por la tradición, y las últimas tecnologías puestas siempre al servicio del viñedo, son las cartas con las que juegan Joan Àngel y su equipo a la hora de elaborar sus vinos, vinos impregnados de terroir, personales y con un toque de creatividad artística que los singulariza. Edetària sólo elabora vino de las viñas de su propiedad, viñas viejas en su mayoría y cultivadas en cinco terroirs distintos. De la interacción de las diferentes viníferas con sus terruños, obtiene uvas diversas y particulares que son las que definen la marcada personalidad de los vinos, siendo el Edetària Blanc su mejor exponente y su vino más consolidado y apreciado. La bodega de Edetaria es un edificio singular, sencillo y con un aire de modernidad, rodeado de cepas viejas.

Vocación: vino de terroir.

El vino es fruto de la tierra y debe ser muestra de su expresión en un sentido amplio: suelo, clima y forma de hacer. Somos absolutamente respetuosos con la naturaleza, trabajamos de una manera sostenible y buscamos la máxima expresión y autenticidad de nuestra tierra. Los vinos que elaboramos no se encuentran en el mundo del gran consumo, por este motivo, queremos que la creatividad domine sobre cualquier otro criterio. El vino es a la vez reflejo de quien lo piensa, diseña y elabora. Elaboramos vinos con carácter propio, conocemos bien las condiciones, aplicamos el proceso más riguroso, pero a la vez nos gusta dejar un lugar para la improvisación, por la inquietud de crear, de experimentar sin ningún otro condicionante que ese toque más artístico de nuestro trabajo.

Historia.

Las primeras referencias históricas de la vocación vinícola de la Terra Alta datan de 1185, cuando el conde Ramón Berenguer IV ordenó, después de la reconquista, repoblarla con viñas. Así mismo, en estos parajes hay vestigios de tribus ibéricas que habitaban la región mucho antes, y muy probablemente la viña se introdujo durante el período de la romanización. Durante esa época, cuando el imperio romano tenía una de sus capitales en Tarraco, el comercio con las tierras del interior se realizaba desde el puerto de Dertosa, la actual Tortosa. Durante las estaciones cálidas y debido a la escasa navegabilidad del río Ebro, dicha comunicación se llevaba a cabo a través de la "via Edetana", que cruzaba nuestras tierras uniendo Caesaraugusta,la actual Zaragoza, y Dertosa, Tortosa. Edetària se hace eco del nombre de esta vía y con ello queremos rendir homenaje a la cultura mediterránea de la cual formamos parte, y donde el vino ha sido uno de sus productos emblemáticos.
