Padres fundadores.

San Marzano es un pequeño pueblo en el centro de la región DOC de Primitivo di Manduria, una franja de tierra besada por los dos mares del Salento: el Jónico y el Adriático. En 1962, la denominación DOC todavía no existía, y el Primitivo di Manduria estaba lejos de convertirse en un vino de culto para los amantes del vino. En 1962, 19 viticultores de San Marzano, de las familias vinculadas por generaciones a la tierra, se unieron para fundar "Cantina San Marzano". En décadas esta cooperativa ha crecido hasta el punto de atraer a más de 1.200 viticultores, productores de vinos más elegantes con el máximo respeto de la antigua tradición vitivinícola de la Apulia. Las bodegas San Marzano están situadas en la Apulia, en el corazón de la famosa d.o.p. de Primitivo, una franja de tierra suspendida entre dos mares, el Jónicas y el Adriático; una zona de pueblos y paisajes de las provincias de Taranto y Brindisi, donde los viñedos y olivos florecen al lado del otro en una superficie de arcilla. Los suelos de los viñedos y el terruño mediterráneo juegan un papel fundamental en la producción de vinos de alta calidad.

Una figura importante en la bodega.

Francesco Cavallo fue nombrado presidente del consejo de administración en 1982. Una figura ardiente y visionaria, continúa haciendo planes para el futuro, mientras supervisa el presente de nuestra bodega. Él ha sido ininterrumpidamente el verdadero timonel de nuestra compañía. Por fin enel año 1996, las primeras botellas salieron de la bodega, gracias a una moderna planta de embotellado financiada por los miembros de Cantine. Esta compra marcó la transición de los productos básicos a la marca, desde la economía del volumen a la relación directa con el consumidor final.
