Español [ ES ]Líder de la vanguardia enológica en los noventa, Álvaro Palacios es el más famoso de los intrépidos bodegueros que condujeron al Priorat a la cúspide del panorama nacional. Nacido en Alfaro (La Rioja) en el seno de una conocida familia bodeguera local los Palacios Remondo-, Álvaro Palacios decidió en 1989 con sólo 24 años- poner rumbo al Priorat para demostrar que podía elaborar vinos de finca de primer nivel en la región vinícola más prometedora del momento. No sólo lo consiguió, sino que además creó un vino de culto L´Ermita- que hizo que el mundo entero descubriera la llicorella, la Garnacha prioratina y los viejos viñedos que rodean Scala Dei.
Álvaro Palacios llega al Priorat en 1989, a la localidad de Gratallops, junto con René Barbier, Carles Pastrana y José Luis Pérez, con la intención transmitir a sus vinos (Bodegas Álvaro Palacios) todo el carácter de esta tierra. Ellos creyeron en el Priorat, lleno de esencias nítidas, de sol mediterráneo, de riscos y pizarra, de hinojo y olivares, una tierra con alma mística. Bodegas Álvaro Palacios cuenta con unos viñedos de 30 has., donde crecen las viejas viñas de garnacha, bajo un clima mediterráneo, de tantas horas de sol y lluvias escasas, y la proximidad del mar, que le concede el frescor de la brisa marina en verano, necesaria para que el fruto madure conservando todo su potencial aromático. Álvaro Palacios también cultiva la cariñena, la Cabernet Sauvignon y algunas más, de forma experimental. Bodegas Álvaro Palacios crea unos vinos rotundos, frescos y minerales, vinos reconocidos ya a nivel mundial.
