La diversificación.

La familia Frutos Villar tiene raíces en la industria del vino que se remonta a comienzos del siglo anterior, cuando estaban involucrados en la compra y venta de vino. En 1920 establecieron su primera bodega en Toro, una región con una larga tradición vinícola que bien puede ser anterior a los romanos, y específicamente donde se encuentra su Bodega Muruve. Bodega Calderona, su segunda bodega, se fundó en Cigales en 1960 y tiene 105 hectáreas de viñedos, produciendo vinos bajo la marca Calderona. Todo esto ocurrió antes de la demarcación de las denominaciones de origen y posteriormente en 1988, la familia realizó una compra en la región de Ribera del Duero, la Bodega Santa Eulalia en La Horra en la provincia de Burgos, situada a una altitud de 800 metros y con 210 hectáreas de viñedos. Después de acumular una considerable experiencia a lo largo de los años, la familia ahora se ha posicionado bien en varias regiones donde ha dejado su marca con la variedad Tempranillo, también conocida como Tinta de Toro y Tinto Fino.

Historia.

Desde hace larguísimo tiempo la familia Frutos Villar ha estado vinculada a las viñas y al mundo del vino, pero fue a principios del siglo XX cuando esa vinculación se intensifica comenzando una andadura empresarial por el vino, contratando y vendiendo vino de la región de Toro a nivel local. Con ese espíritu emprendedor y pionero, nos anticipamos a las Denominaciones de Origen, y creamos en 1920 una bodega en Toro, nuestra primera bodega. Tiempo después y con la misma iniciativa y vocación de progreso y renovación, construimos, en 1960, otra bodega en Cigales. En todo ese tiempo hemos tratado de crear y cuidar el producto que salía de cada una de ellas, el vino, tratando de marcar en él nuestra personal manera de entenderlo. Llegado el momento de la consolidación de las Denominaciones de Origen la familia Frutos Villar adquiere en 1988 una bodega en Ribera del Duero, Bodegas Santa Eulalia. En un empeño por abarcar las distintas denominaciones que ofrece Castilla y León, sin dejar por ello de producir también grandes vinos de viñedos propios no acogidos a Denominación de Origen alguna, Bodegas Frutos Villar comienza en 1990 a comercializar vinos de la D.O. Rueda. Con ello hemos sido capaces de crear nuestros vinos en cuatro de las nueve zonas de calidad reconocidas en el mapa vinícola de Castilla y León.
