Chivas Brothers, destilería que forma parte del grupo Pernod-Ricard, es el líder del mercado en cuanto al whisky escocés, con una cuota de mercado del 85%. Hoy, Chivas produce, exporta y comercializa algunas de los maltas más conocidos del mundo, tanto como mezclas y ginebras premium como Chivas Regal, Ballantine's, Gin Beefeater, The Glenlivet y Royal Salute, siguiendo la estela ascendiente marcada por los hermanos Chivas, que ya desde los inicios fueron visionarios y crearon una destilería que, como aún hoy sigue demostrando, va mucho más allá de la elaboración de un gran whisky.

Los inicios de Chivas.

Desde sus humildes comienzos hasta la gran ciudad, el espíritu pionero y generoso de James y John Chivas inspiró el primer whisky de lujo del mundo y más allá. El viaje que emprendieron en su día no tiene un destino final y hoy, más de un siglo después, Chivas sigue explorando caminos. Los hermanos Chivas, que crecieron en una remota granja escocesa, eran muy conscientes de que el mundo a su alrededor estaba cambiando y que el idílico telón de fondo que llamaban su hogar les quedaba pequeño para hacer realidad el deseo de marcar la diferencia. Así, iniciaron un viaje a pie desde su granja natal hasta Aberdeen, una ciudad que se ajustaba perfectamente a sus ambiciones. Al encontrar un trabajo remunerado en un emporio de Aberdeen, James se sintió rápidamente cautivado por todo un nuevo mundo de sabores, olores y sabores exquisitos. En las manos de James, todo parecía posible y rápidamente se ganó una gran reputación, capaz de obtener lo para muchos era inalcanzable. Así, tras la decisión de John de participar en el negocio, nació Chivas Brothers. Su buen ojo para el negocio pronto les reportaría un éxito que, siguiendo el dictado de su espíritu generoso, supieron compartir con iniciativas en favor de la comunidad donde vivían, desde financiar una ventana en una iglesia de Aberdeen hasta llegando incluso a que James fue honrado con la tutela de la Real Enfermería.

Hoy, Colin Scott, siguiendo la tradición de su padre y su abuelo, es el responsable de velar por el refinamiento distintivo de Chivas. Scott se convirtió en maestro mezclador en 1989 y gracias a él podemos disfrutar de una gama de whiskies refinados, ricos y generosos. El valor central de Chivas es "mantener lo excepcional", considerando que todos y cada uno de los barriles de whisky tienen un sabor distintivo único. Y es que el carácter final del blend se ve influido por una cantidad inimaginable de matices, muchos de los cuales los aporta la barrica.
