Historia.

La familia Tetas empezó ha elaborar vinos blancos y tintos, de cultivos propios, en Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues hace más de 150 años atrás. Pero fue Josep Maria Tetas quien en 1942 fundó la actual bodega, instalada en Vilafranca del Penedés, a 4 km. de la finca original. El nombre de la bodega Pinord del Penedés salió del nombre de la finca inicial, Pi del Nord, Pino del Norte en castellano. Durante los años 50 y 60 todos los vinos de bodegas Pinord obtienen un reconocido prestigio y empezaron a exportar por todo el mundo. Ampliaron las instalaciones y las producciones. Fue en estos años cuando nació cavas Marrugat, apellido de la esposa de Josep Mª Tetas. En 1990, Pinord decide crecer vitivinícolamente hablando, yéndose al Priorat, a Mas Blanc. Tras años de trabajo hacen un bodega de nueva planta, en la que la ecología es el valor y la calidad una prioridad. Poco después compran una bodega en Ribera del Duero. Hoy en día, con la llegada de la nueva generación, han seguido con la misma filosofía que sus antecesores pero dando dos pasos hacia adelante. La finca del Priorat es la primera finca certificada por Demeter como biodinámica en España y, en el Penedés han reconvertido todos sus viñedos en ecológicos.

Pioneros.

Pinord fue pionero en plantar en la zona de Penedés variedades foráneas como Cabernet Sauvignon y Chardonnay. Tras ellas llegaron Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer y muchas más. A pesar de estas variedades foráneas Pinord siempre ha dado importancia en conservar variedades autóctonas de la zona como son el Xarel·lo, Macabeo, la Parellada, la Garnatxa o el Tempranillo de las cuales hoy tiene viñedos de más de 60 años. Sus viñedos los tiene divididos en tres fincas. Muntanyans, finca donde tienen plantadas las variedades de uvas negras, en terrenos arcillosos y calcáreos para hacer los vinos tintos de bodegas Pinord y también tienen plantada la variedad Chardonnay. El Serral, finca de variedades blancas. Y por último Coll de Bou, donde encontramos básicamente Merlot, también se utiliza como parcela experimental, donde los enólogos experimentan con nuevas variedades viendo su adaptación y rendimiento. Fue de este trabajo de donde salió el vino blanco de las bodegas Pinord hecho con Gewürztraminer, variedad alsaciana que se ha adaptado muy bien a la zona. Las instalaciones están preparadas para elaborar más de cinco millones de botellas al año, pero siempre conservando la calidad como sello de la familia.
