Cinco generaciones de agricultores.
En 1903, durante la crisis de la filoxera, el tatarabuelo, Joan Albet i Rovirosa, llegó al Penedès y se puso a trabajar los viñedos de la Finca de Can Vendrell de la Codina, en Sant Pau de Ordal. Y allí se quedó. Durante cuatro generaciones, la familia Albet fueron los aparceros de Can Vendrell y cultivaron, mimaron y vieron crecer las viñas que ahora son protagonistas de estos afamados vinos. Pero con esto no tenían suficiente y, a finales de los años 70, la oportunidad pasó por delante de su casa e, inquietos por naturaleza, decidieron cogerla al vuelo. En 1978, una empresa danesa visitó el Penedès en busca de un viticultor ecológico. Nadie había oído hablar nunca de vinos ecológicos. Nadie los hacía. Pero la curiosidad pudo con ellos y fue así como empezaron la aventura.
La Bodega del Xapallà.
Junto a Sant Pau d'Ordal, en la finca Can Vendrell de la Codina, está la bodega Xapallá, una bodega modernista diseñada por Josep Maria Pericàs en 1925. En los últimos años, en Albet i Noya se ha ido ampliando y modernizando las instalaciones con la bodega de Xapallà, levantada en 2004, donde se embotella y se hace la crianza de los vinos tintos; y el Celler de l'Era, equipado con la tecnología más puntera y respetuosa y donde se elabora, exclusivamente y por separado, la gama más alta de Albet i Noya. También se ha ido adquiriendo nuevos viñedos como la Finca de Can Milà de la Roca, en Lavern, o la finca de Can Simó, en la zona de Mediona.
La Casa Principal.
La casa principal, que data de 1872, es la recepción, tienda y punto de encuentro de todos los visitantes. Disponen de un majestuoso salón con capacidad de hasta 50 personas y un jardín con vistas privilegiadas para celebrar catas, comidas y todo tipo de eventos. Anexo a esta casa, encontramos también la antigua masía de los aparceros, que ahora es la oficina, y que está documentada del 1400. El objetivo es que te sientas siempre como en tu casa porque, cuando estás aquí, tú también formas parte de nuestra aventura.
La escalera del vino.
Para los amantes del arte, es visita obligada La escalera del vino, una obra magna del artista Joan Raven (Vilafranca, 1963) que preside la escalera de nuestra casa solariega a lo largo de sus cuatro pisos. Una fiel representación, con algunos toques oníricos, del ciclo vegetativo de la vid y de todo el proceso de elaboración del vino. Desde la tierra, su origen, hasta el disfrute y el estallido final.
Producción ecológica.
Hoy en día, los vinos de Albet i Noya ecológicos salen de 80.6 hectáreas de fincas propias y compran algo de uva a agricultores de la zona convertidos, eso sí, al cultivo ecológico. Sus fincas se encuentran a unos 350 metros de altitud en la falda de la Sierra al lado oeste, llamado "Costers del Ordal", lo que en castellano sería "Laderas del Ordal", terrenos con ondulaciones, pequeñas terrazas o en pendientes. Todos sus suelos son pobres en materia orgánica con contenidos de arcilla y arena sobre un manto de piedra calcárea. Son por eso, ricos en magnesio, mineral que le aporta al vino longevidad y frescor. En estas hectáreas cultivan 15 variedades distintas de uva, tanto blancas como tintas, dándole mayor importancia a la Xarel·lo, variedad autóctona de la zona, de donde salen los vinos y cavas Albet i Noya más serios. También cuentan con unas hectáreas dónde cultivan variedades experimentales, 4 variedades blancas y 6 variedades tintas, con las que buscan nuevas expresiones. Todos los vinos ecológicos Albet i Noya tiene en común la calidad de su materia prima, la uva, que es excelente. Cuidando desde su nacimiento en el campo, su recolección, haciendo vendimia manual en cajas pequeñas, hasta su selección en bodega para conseguir vinos de máxima calidad.
