Empordàlia es una cooperativa de vino y aceite formada por la unión de pequeños productores de la comarca del Empordà, que trabajan la tierra desde hace muchas generaciones, desde hace más de 40 años que en Empordàlia elaboramos vinos y aceites de calidad, procedentes de cosechas propias en la zona del Alto y Bajo Ampurdán. A lo largo de estos años se ha procurado que los métodos evolucionasen, mediante tecnologías de última generación, para dar la calidad actual a los productos. Tanto nuestras viñas como los olivos se cultivan desde siempre bajo la influencia de la tramontana, aclimatados a esta castigada orografía de suelo rocoso y pizarroso, transformado por el trabajo agrícola, el viento, la lluvia, el sol y la sequía. Nuestro compromiso no es ningún otro que saber reunir en cada botella bagaje y calidad. Por eso, nos proponemos que toda añada de nuestro Vino DO Empordà conserve los rasgos definitorios de esta pequeña región. Nos empapa el viento de tramuntana, una geografía rocosa, poca lluvia generosa y la sal del mar cercano. Formamos una gran familia que trabajamos un terreno de olivos centenarios y cepas autóctonas y antiguas, tal y como nuestros abuelos y bisabuelos nos enseñaron, con el respecto a la tierra, siguiendo los mismos valores y continuando el mismo camino para las generaciones futuras.

Zona de producción y tipología.

Se encuentra situada en el extremo nororiental de Cataluña, protegida por las estribaciones de las Sierras de Rodes y de Les Alberes, en un arco que va desde el Cabo de Creus a la denominada Garrotxa d'Empordà, municipio de Albanyà. Limita por tanto con los Pirineos al norte, el Mediterráneo por levante, y con el llano propiamente dicho a mediodía. En general, son terrenos ásperos, mayoritariamente de naturaleza granítica o de esquisto los de montaña, mientras que en el llano tienen carácter aluvial. Tienen una extensión de 350 hectáreas. Las edades de las vides tienen una media superior a los 30 años. Característica positiva desde el punto de vista de la calidad del producto final, ya que es conocido el hecho de que las vides viejas producen vino de gran calidad. Por contra, su rentabilidad es baja. A la hora de ver las variedades que están cultivadas, vemos que las variedades viníferas dominantes, destinadas a la elaboración de vinos blancos, son la garnacha blanca, el lledoner blanco y el macabeo. En mucha menor proporción, y de nueva implantación, encontramos el chardonnay y sauvignon blanco. En cuanto a las variedades tintas, domina el cariñena, que constituye la base de la viticultura ampurdanesa. La garnacha negra, que aumenta su superficie, y actualmente el tempranillo, el cabernet sauvignon y una pequeña proporción de merlot y syrah. Para la elaboración de dulces se utiliza la garnacha negra y la garnacha roja -denominadas en la zona lledoner negre y roig- para hacer la garnacha; y el moscatel de Alejandría para la elaboración del moscatel.
