Español [ ES ]El origen de la bodega Marqués de Murrieta va unido al origen del vino de Rioja ya que en 1852 Don Luciano Murrieta elaboró los primeros vinos de Rioja además de ser el primero en exportarlo fuera del territorio nacional. Don Luciano, nombrado marqués por el Rey Amadeo de Saboya gracias a su labor en Rioja, viajó a Burdeos para aprender las técnicas de elaboración del vino que trajo consigo de vuelta a España. Instauró el concepto de château francés en la finca Ygay donde mandó construir el emblemático Castillo de Ygay. En 1983 recoge el testigo Vicente D. Cebrián-Sagarriga, décimo Conde de Creixell, quien actualizó la bodega y continuó el legado del Marqués de Murrieta. Tras su fallecimiento, su hijo, Vicente D. Cebrián-Sagarriga, actual Conde de Creixell, asume junto con su hermana Cristina la gestión de la bodega, acompañado de un equipo joven y cualificado, y actualiza por completo la bodega riojana. A lo largo de los años la familia del Conde de Creixell se ha convertido en un eslabón perfecto para mantener el equilibrio entre tradición y modernidad, colocando a Marqués de Murrieta en el siglo XXI en una posición privilegiada en los vinos de Rioja del mundo.
El origen de la bodega Marqués de Murrieta va unido al origen del vino de Rioja. Su fundador, el Marqués de Murrieta, trajo a España las técnicas de elaboración bordelesas, elaboró su primer vino en 1852 en Logroño y se instaló en la Finca Ygay. Situada en el corazón de Rioja, esta finca alberga el Castillo de Ygay, sede de las bodegas Marqués de Murrieta, rodeado de 300 hectáreas de viñedos circundantes. En 1983, la familia Cebrián-Sagarriga recoge el testigo, y en 2007, inician un laborioso trabajo de restauración del Castillo de Ygay que culmina en 2014, fecha en la cual la bodega reabre sus puertas. Sus visitantes comienzan entonces a disfrutar de recorridos guiados que empiezan en el viñedo, discurren por zonas centenarias rehabilitadas y finalizan con una cata profesional de sus vinos acompañada de alta gastronomía. Alzándose como uno de los edificios centenarios de uso industrial más emblemáticos de Europa, el Castillo de Ygay, declarado como museo en 2019, alberga toda la historia vitivinícola de Marqués de Murrieta, una historia que sentó las bases de la D.O.Ca Rioja. En su interior, se puede visitar desde la bodega histórica de elaboración o salas de crianza en barrica, hasta su colección de vinos desde 1852 hasta nuestros días, pasando por las etiquetas y documentos históricos de Marqués de Murrieta, todo ello conformando una colección privada de incalculable valor. Los espacios del Castillo de Ygay se han convertido en la ubicación perfecta para la celebración de eventos, contando con varios comedores, sala de catas, un gran salón de ambiente acogedor con piano de cola… Incluso un wine bar donde probar todos los vinos de Marqués de Murrieta y de Pazo de Barrantes, la bodega que la familia Cebrián-Sagarriga posee en Rías Baixas. En la actualidad se están construyendo en la finca dos nuevos edificios de elaboración, cuya finalización está prevista para el año 2020. De esta forma, Vicente D. Cebrián-Sagarriga, Conde de Creixell y actual presidente de Marqués de Murrieta, culmina una etapa de actualización completa de la histórica bodega. Su preparación y visión intrépida, a las que ha sumado un equipo joven y cualificado, le convierten en el mejor eslabón entre la historia y la actualidad de la primera bodega de Rioja y una garantía de futuro.
