Evolución.
La Rioja Alta, S.A., ha pasado a la historia como uno de los emblemas del clasicismo riojano mejor entendido, un estilo que ha dado fama mundial a esta región. Desde su centro de operaciones en el célebre barrio de la Estación de Haro, considerado el corazón del vino español, esta firma centenaria se alza desde hace más de un siglo como adalid de la máxima calidad. La Rioja Alta, S.A., ha sabido evolucionar muy bien con el tiempo, introduciendo pequeños cambios pero sin rupturas, para llegar a nuestros días como una de las empresas vitivinícolas más prestigiosas y activas del territorio nacional. A pesar de su dilatada y existosa trayectoria vinícola, La Rioja Alta, S.A., no se ha dormido en los laureles. En 1995 inició su estrategia de expansión con la adquisición de Torre de Oña, también en la D.O.Ca. Rioja, una bonita bodega con viñedos rodeando a las instalaciones, al estilo de los châteaux franceses. Y ya en el siglo XXI ha extendido sus dominios fuera de Rioja, apostando por dos de las denominaciones de origen más importantes de nuestro país: Ribera del Duero y Rías Baixas.
La bodega y sus fincas.
Los vinos de La Rioja Alta SA se elaboran y crían en dos bodegas, que se complementan y enriquecen mutuamente. La bodega situada en Haro, en pleno Barrio de la Estación, contiene todo el sabor de una centenaria bodega riojana y es idónea para la crianza y reposo de los vinos. Por su parte, la bodega situada en Labastida, moderna y construida con el saber de la larga experiencia de nuestros enólogos y bodegueros, es perfecta para garantizar un magnífico proceso de fermentación. La Rioja Alta S.A. es cultura vitivinícola desde su origen, prestando un cuidadoso cultivo a sus más de 473 hectáreas, de las que 360 ha. están plantadas de viñedos, situados principalmente en los mejores pagos de la zona Rioja Alta, la más exclusiva de la Denominación de Origen. Nuestros viñedos están plantados en suelo calcáreo básicamente en la subzona de Rioja Alta: Rodezno, Labastida, Briones, Cenicero, Fuenmayor etc. Con objeto de disponer de la variedad garnacha, disponemos de una finca de 63 hectáreas en el término municipal de Tudelilla, Rioja Baja.
Producción.
La producción media de nuestros viñedos es 5.000 kg/Has. (34,43 Hl/Ha), 24% inferior a la autorizada en Rioja (45,50 Hl/Ha), lo que aumenta la calidad de nuestras uvas. El 80% de nuestras viñas están podadas en "espaldera" y el 20% restante en "vaso". El tempranillo domina nuestras plantaciones, pero en estos últimos años estamos también plantando Graciano, con el que esperamos dar una personalidad muy especial a nuestros vinos, y Garnacha, para seguir elaborando un Viña Ardanza con la garra y elegancia de siempre. A nuestra producción unimos la de antiguos proveedores, magníficos viticultores, que nos aportan la calidad del fruto que requerimos.
