Un proyecto común.

Bodegas Artadi es, en realidad, el nombre con que se conoce la cooperativa Cosecheros Alaveses, un proyecto en común de alto diseño en el que apostaron varios socios viticultores para demostrar que el vino de cosechero podía llegar también a ser un gran vino. Y lo consiguieron, con los de cosechero y con todos los vinos que elaboran, vinos que han alcanzado las más altas cotas de prestigio tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Abanderado de la renovación riojana de finales de los ochenta, Juan Carlos López de Lacalle es un hombre de viña de los de verdad, un auténtico visionario cuya fe ciega en el poder del terruño ha dado lugar a algunos de los mejores vinos que jamás se han elaborado en España. A mediados de los ochenta lideró la cooperativa Cosecheros Alaveses, que en 1992 pasaría a su propiedad, con el nombre de Bodegas y Viñedos Artadi. Artadi es la firma responsable de obras maestras como Viñas de Gain, Pagos Viejos o Grandes Añadas, pero su verdadero buque insignia es Viña el Pisón, un vino de pago mítico que ha otorgado a su autor el reconocimiento mundial que merece. De hecho, es uno de los pocos vinos españoles que han conseguido obtener 100 puntos Parker, un hito que logró con la añada 2004. La apuesta por el terruño de Artadi y su maestría a la hora de trabajar la tempranillo son un ejemplo de que La Rioja Alavesa ha entrado en el siglo XXI por la puerta grande. Artadi elabora a partir de sus 80 hectáreas de viñedo, repartido en más de 40 parcelas cuidadas con prácticas ecológicas.

Los orígenes.

Artadi fue fundado en Laguardia en 1985 por un grupo de viticultores, hombres y mujeres de pueblo con sus costumbres arraigadas y su mirada puesta en el viñedo y sus vinos. En 1992 la Familia Lacalle y Laorden dirigió el proyecto. La obsesión por el cultivo y el culto al viñedo les condujo a descubrir expresiones capaces de mostrar la personalidad de los vinos únicos, reflectores de su origen. Esa misma creencia les llevó a continuar el trabajo en 1996 en Navarra (Artazu), en 1999 en Alicante (El Sequé) y en 2015 en Guipúzcoa (Izar-Leku). Hoy mantienen muy vivas las tradiciones vitícolas de sus antepasados porque luchan contra el avance devastador, según ellos, que la química pone al servicio exclusivo de la industrialización y de un manejo agrícola "irrespetuoso". Intentan entonces preservar el camino heredado para obtener el disfrute de un vino vivo, con sentimientos y espiritualidad respetuosos e integrando la naturaleza y el viñedo a nuestras propias vidas.

Ecología y sostenibilidad.

Bodegas Artadi promueve una viticultura respetuosa con prácticas de cultivo que se apoyan en la ecología y la sostenibilidad. Sin usar ningunos fertilizantes ni sustancias químicas de síntesis, mantienen vivo el ecosistema vitícola. Ven el espacio de cultivo, la tierra, como un organismo vivo. El suelo es de hecho un enorme ser vivo en el que todas las plantas, insectos, animales u otras formas de vida forman parte de sus órganos vitales. En efecto, quieren preservar la diversidad genética de las variedades de uva como patrimonio vitícola provechoso y desarrollar al máximo la personalidad de sus vinos.
