Español [ ES ]Los orígenes de Cellers de Scala Dei se remontan al siglo XIX cuando, a raíz de la desamortización de Mendizábal, las familias de los actuales propietarios, adquirieron las tierras de la Cartuja de Scala Dei. Los propietarios de Scala Dei fueron los pioneros del embotellado de vino en el Priorat. Las primeras botellas de vino del Priorat salieron en 1878 de esta bodega rumbo a la Exposición Universal de París. Los vinos se criaban en las antiguas dependencias de los monjes cartujos. La cava de crianza ocupa una construcción del siglo XVII, situada en el emblemático edificio donde vivía el procurador de la Cartuja. Esta sala se abre solo a las visitas guiadas. Está documentada la actividad vitícola de los monjes de esta Cartuja desde 1263, cuando ya pusieron por escrito las variedades que mejor se adaptaban a aquella “tierra fría”. Siglos despúes, en 1973, Celler Scala Dei se refunda y saca al mercado los primeros vinos modernos. En 1991 sus propietarios ceden a la Generalitat de Cataluña el edificio histórico que se convierte en un polo de atracción de enoturismo que recibe más de 20.000 visitas al año. En el año 2000, el Grupo Codorniu entra en el accionariado de Cellers Scala Dei.
