Historia.

El comandante del Ejercito de Tierra Don Rafael Cruz Conde fundó “Bodegas Cruz Conde” en el año 1902, con objeto de la elaboración, crianza y comercialización de los mejores vinos de la zona Montilla-Moriles: Generosos, blancos, Pedro Ximenez y Brandies. La intensa actividad bodeguera desarrollada dio lugar a la creación de una de las más importantes bodegas de la zona, dotada de una gran infraestructura. La buena marcha de la actividad posibilitó la construcción de una bodega subterránea formada por 6 naves de techo abovedado y otras tantas de una arquitectura excepcional.

Instalaciones.

Con una superficie superior a 14.000 m², la bodega esta situada en pleno casco urbano del pueblo de Montilla. En dicho espacio destaca la bodega subterránea de crianza “El Sótano”, ejemplo de arquitectura de excelencia y única en el entorno de Montilla – Moriles, con 8.000 botas (barricas) enclavadas en los lugares más apropiados para la crianza de vino. También existen construcciones de nueva planta con espacios destinados a la elaboración, tratamiento y crianza de vinos.
Asimismo, nuestras instalaciones albergan la Destilería La Cordobesa, dotada con alambiques de cobre que datan de la primera mitad del siglo XX, donde continuamos realizando las labores de destilación mediante métodos tradicionales.

Viñedos.

Los viñedos están constituidos fundamentalmente por la cepa "Pedro Ximénez", que supone el 90% de la producción de uva en el marco de la Denominación. Las altas temperaturas de la zona le proporcionan a la uva un alto contenido en azúcares (244 gramos por litro de mosto) y por tanto, una graduación alcohólica natural, superior a 14,5º tras la fermentación.

O. Montilla-Moriles.
La D.O Montilla-Moriles esta situada al sur de la provincia de Córdoba, en pleno centro de Andalucía. Los viñedos de la DO ocupan una superficie de 10.200 hectáreas de campiña, con suelos calcáreos y un clima mediterráneo con influencias continentales. Esta conjunción de factores dan como resultado las condiciones óptimas para obtener vinos singulares, finos, delicados y de graduación alcohólica natural elevada. La vid precisa de tierras profundas, mucho sol y altas temperaturas. El medio ambiente, cálido y seco de nuestros largos veranos, pone a la uva en su punto y la enriquece de azúcar, que se desdoblará luego en grados de alcohol naturales. Las zonas de producción de calidad superior se concentran en la Sierra de Montilla y Moriles Alto.
